  • Barn & Entry Addition

This family chose to update their existing cape style home in Ferrisburgh, Vermont by adding a barn with a future master bedroom above and a new entry.  The barn accommodates two cars, a workbench and a tractor in the shed.  The barn is connected to the house by an entry; a timber-framed porch on the addition creates a welcoming covered entry to the home.

The exterior siding on the barn and entry is low maintenance, prefinished, fiber cement clapboards and board and batten. A layer of structural sheathing beneath the siding adds R-value to the walls. The interior finishes in the entry are durable bluestone for the floors and milk painted, pine on the shaker style cabinetry.
